Our story

A little stroke of luck, shared around the table.

Founded by Lauren Casey, Catherine Lubner and Susan Franz, Hop Toi grew from a shared love of the game and the connection it creates.

Hop Toi is the little stroke of luck that happens in the initial deal, when tiles from two different walls come together. We loved the idea of naming our community after the kind of good luck that happens when everyone comes together.

Pronounced “hop toy.”

Learn with us

Confident play begins with a warm welcome.

We teach by National Mahjong League rules in a supportive, social setting. New players first learn the pace and flow of the game without the distraction of the card; once comfortable, Mahjong 101 introduces the card and the strategy behind every hand.

Find the rhythm

Understand the tiles, turns, and natural pace of play.

Build your strategy

Add the card, spot opportunities, and play with confidence.
